Thinking about therapy?

We may all experience times in our life where we feel anxious, upset, low or overwhelmed by negative or frightening feelings or maybe we just feel stuck. Luckily in a lot of cases this passes, however sometimes these feelings can persist and worsen and begin to have a significant impact on our quality of life and our mental and physical health.

Being able to talk openly about how we are feeling, and what we might be experiencing is very powerful, it can really help to ease and reduce the thoughts that might be troubling us. Often, we can reach out to family and friends for these conversations and support. However, this is not always possible.

This is where speaking to a therapist can be really helpful. Reaching out for help is not always easy, but the fact that you are here means that you might be thinking of seeking some support and considering using therapy to get it.

How I might be able to help?

There are a lot of reasons why someone might look for help and support and to understand themselves and their feelings better. I have supported people to explore a wide range of issues that have impacted their emotional and mental wellbeing. This has included depression and low mood, anxiety, trauma, issues within relationships, loss and bereavement, and difficulties around self-worth and self-esteem. More information about the areas that I can offer support with can be found here: Areas of support

I hope that for all the people I work with I provide a safe, confidential space to share how they are feeling and what might be affecting them. I strive to create an environment where people feel they are supported, listened to with compassion and understanding, and able to talk about whatever they might need to at their own pace. Me and My approach.

When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another
